Students Can Explore Health Careers Through PA AHEC SEARCH Academy

High school students in rural and disadvantaged school districts can explore a wide variety of health careers via Pennsylvania AHEC’s virtual SEARCH Academy.

The “Students Exploring and Researching Careers in Health” (SEARCH) Academy gives students the opportunity to learn from and ask questions of practicing health professionals about their chosen health career. Presentations will focus on what they do on a daily basis, the training/education they needed, how they interact and collaborate with other health professionals, their favorite parts of their job, and more.

Monthly SEARCH Academy sessions also feature hands-on activities, such as learning how to suture (medicine careers) and conduct oral health examinations (dental careers). Supplies are shipped to registrants’ homes prior to the sessions.

Check out the SEARCH Academy schedule for 2021-22 at www.paahecsearch.org.
