PA Training Center for Health Equity Happenings

Updated: Jul 13, 2022

The Pennsylvania Training Center for Health Equity further advanced health equity training in June.

  • Our Community Health Worker (CHW) Project ECHO-based series focused on domestic violence, including how to talk about domestic violence, how to help victims make plans, and available resources. The series offers free continuing education that CHWs need to maintain their state certification. Sessions are recorded and posted on PA AHEC’s learning management system and can be watched for continuing education credit. There is still time to register for the series. Five more sessions are planned between September 2022 and February 2023.

  • We presented to a variety of stakeholders at a June 16 meeting of the Capital Area United Way Advisory Board. The presentation focused on the importance of health equity, resources to identify health disparities, and information on health equity decision-making. A one-page flyer provides an overview of the principles of health equity decision-making and steps towards advancing health equity in your organization.

  • We launched our “Learning over Lunch” series for primary care teams with a presentation on Emergency Preparedness in Primary Care. The recording for this session can be found on the PA AHEC website and can be watched for continuing education credit.
