Oral Health Workforce Decreasing: New Report from PA Coalition for Oral Health

Writer's picture: Patricia BrickerPatricia Bricker

The Pennsylvania Coalition for Oral Health has issued a new dental health workforce report that describes a worsening crisis in oral health access for Pennsylvania’s rural and underserved communities.

The report documents a 10% decrease in Pennsylvania’s dental health workforce since 2015, with faster attrition during the COVID-19 pandemic and in rural communities. The report also found that Pennsylvania ranks near the bottom nationally for the annual salaries of licensed dental care providers, hampering recruitment and retention of these essential providers in Pennsylvania.

An Executive Summary, the full report, and a Regional Assessment are available on the coalition’s website.
