Celebrating the Power of Rural! Rural Health Week in Pennsylvania

Writer's picture: Patricia BrickerPatricia Bricker

Pennsylvania AHEC salutes rural health care providers, their patients, and their communities for Rural Health Week in Pennsylvania and National Rural Health Day tomorrow.

According to The Center for Rural Pennsylvania, more than 25% of Pennsylvania’s population lives in one of Pennsylvania’s 48 rural counties.

Pennsylvania AHEC particularly congratulates the rural health awardees announced this week by the Pennsylvania Office of Rural Health. Every year, the office recognizes a State Rural Health Leader, Community Rural Health Leader, Rural Health Program, Legislator, and Rural Health Hero of the Year. Two years ago, Northeast PA AHEC Executive Director Debra Youngfelt was named State Rural Health Leader of the Year.

Two other National Rural Health Day events:

· Register for a live webinar at 2pm tomorrow to meet 50 Rural Community Stars from all 50 states.

· HRSA webinars on rural health disparities and rural social determinants of health running all week.
