August Is National Minority Donor Awareness Month

Writer's picture: Patricia BrickerPatricia Bricker

The need for organ transplants far exceeds the supply of donated organs, particularly among minority communities. National Minority Donor Awareness Month calls attention to the need for more organ, eye, and tissue donors within multicultural communities, highlights donor education, encourages donor registration, and promotes healthy living and disease prevention to decrease the need for transplantation. Sign up to be an organ donor through Pennsylvania’s online donor designation system.
